I have to admit that I was a bit terrified about the whole "living together with my sister" experience. Last time it happened, it was twenty years ago and I almost kicked her out of the house. Let's just say that what for her is "orderly neat", for me it's a mess! She's an artist, what else can you say? But time changes everyone, smooths down the sharp edges of each character. Additionally, now she has a baby, a beautiful one...and everything is better. Giuliano, my nephew, is the "non crying baby". Of course, he never let go of her, she always carries him around wrapped in one of those sling baby carriers, she breastfeed him "on demand", they sleep together... Why should he cry? Her concept of raising a child is totally in line with Jean Liedloff's "The Continuum Concept" ...of course, there's no indigenous people around here, so she has to "adjust" but the result is surprisingly good!
We visited the Jardin de Luxembourg, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay. Although Federica graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Torino, she never had the chance to visit these museum until now!
Here we are at the Musée Guimet.
Since I had to go back to work and Josh had to return to school, my sister went on visiting Paris on her own.
After five days of museums and artworks, Giuliano decided that he had enough. So what is the best way a kid can force his mom to stay home and avoid the chilling cold outside? FEVER!!!!
Yep, so he did. He had temperature and runny nose for four entire days and Federica had to stay home. No more monuments, no more sightseeing, only paracetamol and diapers and cries.
Naturally, my sister didn't trust my expertise in the medical field so she asked me to call a doctor, possibly a pediatrician. I did. I dialed the emergency call (similar to 911) and, despite non being a real urgent case, in 20 minutes the doctor showed up at our door (it was past 21:30), visited Giuliano and prescribed him some pills. I paid cash 63 euros. When I'll get my Carde Vitale, I will be able to ask for the refund.
Look how happy he was after realizing that he actually achieved his target!
Here are Giuliano and Josh on Saturday morning: they went back to Torino and will probably make another attempt in April. Let's guess....gastroenteritis?
